<span style="font-weight: 400;">Art Brender has been a successful trial lawyer practicing in Fort Worth for the past 48 years. He secured a B.A. in History from the University of Texas in 1968; served as a Lt.(jg) in the Navy during the Vietnam War 1969-71 and graduated from University of Texas Law School in 1973. He is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Personal Injury Trial Law. Married to Lynda Brender for 53 years, they have three children, including John Brender, his law partner, and seven grandchildren. Notable victories include two cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, Watson v. Fort Worth Bank & Trust, a landmark employment rights case and Trevino v. Texas, involving jury selection. He has successfully pursued class action cases on behalf of the rights of minorities and women in employment and, in Coble v. Texas Department of Corrections, involved the right of women to work as correctional officers in Texas such that now 40% of the correctional officers, over 8,000, are women. In another class action, spanning 17 years, the Brender Law Firm, as lead counsel, achieved a $100 million settlement from the manufacturer and distribution of E-Ferol, a drug responsible for numerous infant injuries and deaths. For his life-long dedication to helping people in need, Brender has been recognized as the Trial Lawyer of the Year Finalist by the national Public Justice Foundation, Outstanding Service in the Field of Civil Rights by the Texas NAACP, a “Good Guy” by the Texas Women’s Political Caucus, H.G. Wells Outstanding Trial Lawyer Award by the Tarrant County Trial Lawyers, and the 2015 Blackstone Award, the Tarrant County Bar Association’s most prestigious award given annually “in recognition” of a career that exemplifies professional aptitude, integrity, and courage.</span>
